Systems Administrator

Overview

As a Systems Administrator at The Scylla Group, you will design and implement solutions and solve issues for customers while working in a fast-paced, team environment that strives to keep up with new technologies and trends.

The ideal candidate should have demonstrable experience in the design and implementation of Microsoft solutions, systems maintenance, support, and networking. You will work in a team-environment where you will be expected to ask questions and contribute to conversations. All team members work in a variety of infrastructures and with a mixture of technology products on any given day. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits and a flexible work environment. Job duties will mostly be carried out Warrenton, VA, but will occasionally be conducted at client sites (local). A flexible work environment may be available some days after candidate has demonstrated knowledge of existing clients and systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 11
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (2021 / 365)
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange Server, and SharePoint in Azure, Microsoft 365 and on-premise scenarios
  • Good foundation in network security
  • Basic knowledge of Linux
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • 2+ years related experience

Responsibilities

  • Working with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Setting up accounts and workstations
  • Monitoring performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Ensuring security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrading systems and maintaining patch levels
  • Developing expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Building and deploying new servers, environments, and sites
  • Working with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare)
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity (LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, WiFi, VLAN, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting issues remotely, over-the-phone and on-site
  • Coordinating and Communicating with customers / end-users
